About the Abbey Shakespeare Players

The Abbey Shakespeare Players are a largely amateur company of actors and musicians drawn from all over Britain by the magical setting of St Dogmaels Abbey in West Wales. We have presented a different Shakespeare play in the Abbey each summer for more than two decades.

Cwmni o actorion a cherddorion yw'r Abbey Shakespeare Players. Mae'r llecyn hudol yr hen Abaty, Landudoch, yn ein denu ni i Orllewin Cymru bob haf o lawer o fannau ar draws Ynys Prydain. Rydyn ni wedi llwyfannu un o ddramâu Shakespeare yma bob blwyddyn am fwy na ddau ddegawd.

A note from our patron

In 1987 and 1988 I had the pleasure of acting in St Dogmaels in Twelfth Night and The Merchant Of Venice. I remember vividly the magic of performing in such a special spot and the feeling of community and shared ambition that is at the centre of any thriving theatrical enterprise. I am delighted and honoured to still be associated with the company that is now celebrating its twenty fifth year. A special moment for a unique enterprise. Here's to twenty five more.
